Letter of Motivation to study Global Environmental Management Course

I am a third year Bachelor of Science (Tourism) student in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management of the University of Cape Coast.
As an undergraduate student, I wish to add Global Environmental Management to my degree to improve my knowledge and skills in my areas of interest, so as to have the full grounds to participate in the deliberation of issues concerning the environment. It will give direction to my goal of a career in Tourism and Hospitality Management since I will appreciate the objectives of environmental management and incorporate it into management decisions.
The course will help me to identify and discuss environmental management problems and its effects on sustainable development at the local, national, and even global levels. This shall be very applicable in my dream career as a top management member in any Tourism and Hospitality institution.
I will also be able to examine some of the approaches and methods used in managing environmental resources and apply them wherever there is the need to sustain the environment.
In my previous years (2 years) of study, I benefitted from courses such as Tourism and the Environment, Eco-Tourism, and Environmental Management, which have given me the ability to understand the nature and aspects of environmental management, as well as comprehensive exposure to the core areas of environmental management and a strong conceptual understanding of same. Learning by myself, and sharing my knowledge with others has been most worthwhile, when comprehending a concept. I have also appreciated the objectives of environmental management.
Over the past year, I have developed an interest in environmental management activities as well. The practical experience I got from the work involved in restoring and protecting the environment in my community (planting of trees and lawns) has led me to appreciate the intricacies involved in this concept. These have given me prerequisite knowledge in the course and will facilitate my understanding and further research. However, for the Global Environmental Management course, I remain open to other topics as well.
I saw the course to be very important due to my career aspirations to become a top management member in any Tourism and Hospitality institution. Having this knowledge will allow me to better understand principles in environmental management, and apply them in the formulation of organizational policies involving the environment.
Since tourism thrives mainly on the environment, the knowledge I hope to gain from this course will enable me take pragmatic decisions to ensure a sustainable relationship between them. I will also help communities to make informed decisions about the environment.
I would like to state that, environmental studies through your organization will be the most logical extension of my academic pursuits and a major step towards achieving my objectives. I would be very grateful if I am accorded the opportunity to pursue the Global Environmental Management course in Ghana with financial assistance from your institution.
